It’s hard to say if I will do one about the community itself or simply use ideas for features. That being said, the film Beyond Amity is the closest to a gay film I have made because one of the characters is gay and there is an argument in the film about the homosexual lifestyle and the expectations of it that some people may have. Although, I think the point of the film (at least to me) is that anyone can love anybody no matter the gender or the sexual orientation.
American Rejects is a film that was inspired entirely on the issues of homosexuality and the concepts of equal rights for everyone. There are no gay characters in the film and the discussions that are brought up are not gay related, the ideas of being different and ridiculed by normal american society is a direct reflection of how I view the gay and lesbian lifestyles of today when faced with civil rights issues.
It’s hard to say if I will or will not do a movie that is gay focused. At this point I don’t have a good enough story to take in that direction. So it seems that I will continue to take the X-Men approach of filmmaking and tell a story that is indirectly targeting that lifestyle.
